What do you mean "Vitality"?
Your Body is an Ecosystem, Not a Machine
You value your body. Not the looks and not the performance of your body, but you value health of your body. You see your body as a gift. You want to take care of it and nurture it as you would a brand new Ferrari. You wouldn’t put plain old unleaded in the engine. You would put the highest quality fuel you could find and take care of that car. Take value in your body, treat it well, and your whole life will benefit.
Our vitality programs will improve health. As a benefit of improved health, you will see improved focus, energy, better moods, improved body composition, and so much more. It’s time you start taking care of your body the way it deserves. Like a car only has as so many miles as you take care of it, your body only lives as long as you take care of it.
The main concept to grasp when pursuing vitality is that the body is not a machine. The body is an ecosystem. There are many different parts and organisms and species working together that make up the body. Vitality focuses on creating an ecosystem where everyone and everything works in harmony to the highest capability possible.
Some points of keeping your ecosystem running smoothly are: your Metabolism, your Microbiome, your Endocrine System (Hormones), and having a positive mental attitude.
Your Metabolism can be defined as “the chemical processes that occur within a living organism in order to maintain life.”. If your body’s metabolism is not functioning at peak capacity, than your body’s ability to support your life processes are harmed. An efficient metabolism will help with any physical goal, but is essential when discussing vitality.
Your Microbiome is the microorganisms living in and on your body either supporting, or taking, from your life force. Did you know that over 99% of the cells in and on your body are not you? There is a world of healthy bacteria that live in and on your body which are essential to your vitality. However, depending on what you eat and your exercise levels, you may be feeding your body bad bacteria as well.
Your Endocrine System is your hormonal system. Have you ever heard of the Hormone Replacement therapy that was coined the fountain of youth? Yeah, those are steroids. Steroids are artificially made hormones that mimic the hormones naturally occurring in your body. However, you can boost your hormones naturally with nutrition and exercise. Boosting your hormones naturally allows you to have the same anti-aging and health benefits, without the side effects of hormone replacement therapy.
Your mental attitude affects your Hormonal system, Metabolism, and Microbiome. When you are constantly thinking stressful thoughts, your body will release the stress hormone cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone that, if release in excess, will wreak havoc on your body by breaking down tissue and causing degeneration. Your metabolism will slow as well because the increase in stress hormone will lead to a crash in energy. Taking a nap burns significantly less calories than you running around the house cleaning. The effect of both your Metabolism and Hormones then affects your Microbiome. When all these systems don’t work together , they will go south in a downward spiral. However, the opposite is true as well. A positive mental attitude will lead to an increase in energy and metabolism, as well as a cascade of healthy hormones. Then due to the positive affects, the Microbiome will be improved as well.
So as you can see, Nutrition and Exercise all affect the ecosystem that is your body. Here is how you should Train and Eat to maximize vitality:
Exercise should be in short bursts and should not be stretched over a long period of time, because this will lead to an increased release of the stress hormone cortisol. Also, short bursts of high intensity exercise will lead to a release of beneficial hormones that keep you young and healthy, boost your metabolism, and help turn on detoxification processes in the body.
Foods should supply plenty of calories and plenty of micronutrients. If a car is not getting the right amount or quality of fuel, it will not function at the same speed or efficiency as it could with higher quality and quantity foods. Your body is the same way. Your calorie intake is very important because your energy is literally derived from your food, and less food overall means less energy. The other side to the equation on nutrition however is nutrient density. If you eat foods low in nutrients, your body will be starving. Not of calories, but of vitamins and minerals. Because of this, you will feel like you need to eat more and more food until your body has ample nutrients to run the processes it needs.
The best way to make sure your nutrition is on point is to eat whole foods from a natural source. This will lead to the most nutrient dense foods with quality calories. Also, reducing toxins from foods will keep your body running cleaner. Leafy greens could be considered the most nutrient dense food, so be sure to incorporate them every day, and possibly in every meal, for maximum nutrient delivery. Foods like sweet potatoes deliver quality calories while still providing plenty of nutrients. Incorporate high quality natural foods into your diet to keep your body running at higher levels.
